Be Ready for the New Year: Industry Forecast 2008
According to T&E Magazine's industry report, although the numbers differ between the various travel forecasts, "There's universal agreement on one thing: Corporations will be paying more for air travel, hotel rooms and rental cars next year."
American Express Business Travel reports that the overall cost of a domestic trip will increase by 6%, or $1,110 per person. International trip costs are expected to rise 7% to approximately $3,171 per traveler.
However, travel managers still anticipate an increase in business travel. NBTA recently revealed preliminary results from its survey of travel managers. Of the 215 travel managers polled, 60% of them expect their travelers will be taking more trips in 2008. Read full T&E report.

Corporate Meeting Cards Bring More Insight into Meeting Spend
The benefits of using corporate meeting cards to capture group related spend is discussed in the December issue of T&E Magazine. The coporate meeting card allows travel and procurement managers more visibility of actual meeting spend and expenses can be allocated by business unit or other internal codes.
The corporate meeting card is a uniquely branded corporate card that separates meeting spend from regular travel expenses. With meetings estimated to account for as much as 30% of company T&E expenses, the corporate meeting card allows control over these typically unmanaged expenses. Read article on page 7.
